Ride to Stumpknockers, March 2, 2008

This past Sunday Steve Hinkley led us on  a 100 mile mid morning lunch ride to Stumpknockers in Dunellon.  We had a real good turn out considering that some people went over to Daytona for bike week. We had 17 beautifully blinged bikes and 17 proud smiling faces to go with those bikes. I am also happy to say that 7 of those great looking bikes belonged to 7 great looking female riders. We had no one riding 2 up today, all couples were  riding side by side which was so cool !!

Steve took us on a very nice journey thru some back roads that made the ride very enjoyable. The weather was also a great part of what made this  ride so nice. You couldn't have asked for a better morning for a ride in the country !!  We made one little pit stop on the way at a 7 eleven to let some folks go potty or get a quick drink or to just stretch your legs and shoot the breeze with everyone.

When we got to Stumpknockers they had our tables all ready for us so we just went right inside . They have a pretty good menu and the prices are not expensive. Some ordered fish and some the steak, my husband and I had Shepard's pie which was very good. After we ate no one had room for dessert so we went outside to walk off our lunch.

The restaurant is right on a lazy river . The setting for Stumpknockers is beautiful. It's a place you wouldn't mind just hanging out at.   We heard the rumor that there are alligators that hang around Stumpknockers and I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself. As I was taking pictures I turned to see Luke Bonofiglio with an  alligator hanging off of his leg !!! Luckily he got his leg out of the monsters big mouth so he was able to ride his bike home!

After we were all done playing it was time to head home. Some hopped on the parkway for a quick ride back, the rest of us wanted to take or time and enjoy the rest of the day so we  took the long way back .

Before we left Fletchers Diana gave every one a ticket. When we got to the restaurant she put the tickets in a bag and had someone not with the group pull  a ticket. The prize was a gift card to Red Lobster or a choice of a couple of different restaurants. The big winner was Ray Garcia. Congratulations Ray !!  Who knows maybe you will be the winner next time, But you will never know if you don't come along on the rides !

It was a great day all around !!!!

Thanks Steve for a fun filled day and a great ride

Eilene
