Head Road Captains New Members Orientation Ride 5/31/08

            In accordance with the decision to hold a New Members Orientation Ride on a bi monthly basis, our latest effort was on May 31 and happily we had 11 members in attendance. Of those, seven were in fact some of our newest members and some familiar faces also joined us.

To start things off, and after figuring out the DVD player, which I incorrectly believed to be almost fool proof and being proved wrong, we watched the Riders Edge Group Riders training film which covers most all the same riding points that we here at FBACC HOG now try to follow in our rides. Safety, hand signals, staggered riding, single file etc. are some of the finer points. While most of our riders are road experienced as single riders, we all admit to some shortcomings when first we try group riding. It can be intimidating but also challenging and eventually fun. It enhances our skills as riders and adds to the joy of riding our favorite “Beast of Burden”. Our prized HOG.. (Sounds like 4H program.)
