Call in Sick Ride to Daddy's September 17, 2009
Ride leader: Mike Ellis. Story courtesy of John Pantelis.
The monthly Retired and Unemployed Guys Ride (formerly
known as the Call-in-Sick Ride) was attended by 5 hungry chapter members -
hungry for a good ride and hungry for breakfast. As usual, this event
did not disappoint. We started out on a circuitous route between
Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties including some great twisties on
Patterson Road. Surprisingly traffic was light - surely a sign of the
economic times. It was a little cloudy too which made for unseasonably
cool air for our morning jaunt. The Patterson Road twisties were only a few
miles worth but were a blast just the same. And we all made it through
without sliding, dumping or spilling ourselves on the roadway. Good
show....
We arrived at Daddy's (not as in "Who's your....?") and were greeted by
smiling lovelies who found us a good table off by ourselves. Perhaps
they wanted to keep a close eye on these toughies, or they were just keeping
us away from the rest of the customers. No matter - we had some great
omelets, pancakes, hot coffee, etc. and the prices were more than
reasonable. Well done Dr. Mike. Another great restaurant
selection and a nice 90 minute ride to get there as well.
