Paynes Creek Ride
February 5, 2010

Friday, February 5th, the weather
forecasters said it would rain around 4:00 p.m., so the ride was on.
Departing from The World's Best Motorcycle Dealership (TWBMD) at 9:00
a.m., we headed south through St. Pete via the Interstate, then crossed
the Skyway, and on to Rubonia and Parrish. A comfort stop at the Parrish
Grocery Store revealed that the place is like a little Wal-Mart. I
digress. We continued east across SR 62, then skirted Bowling Green and
found the entrance to Payne's Creek. The fee was $2 per person, which
was quickly accepted at the gate. We found ample parking in the lot for
all our bikes. The picture shows our precision parking techniques - only
two bikes from the group can be seen. The alignment of the rest must
have hidden them behind these two! The second photo, (my apologies) is
too dark to see the group standing on the front porch. Photo three, the
cannon, shows Bill trying to do his skeleton impersonation in the
background. Photo four is proof that we actually made our destination.
Unfortunately, there was no one on duty to sell us the mandatory Tee
Shirt so we could claim "Been There, got the Tee Shirt". After touring
the site, we grabbed lunch at John's Drive-in in Fort Meade, then began
the ride home. We were between Plant City and Tampa when we found the
rain. The forecasters were wrong - it was only 2:00. Fortunately we had
our Frogg Toggs and only got a little wet on the ride home. Another
great day on two wheels with friend(s). EEK
